Who am I?
Hi! I'm Joseph, a technical artist specializing in shaders. I love to learn and enjoy every day that I get to do it.
What projects were my favorite?
I think my favorite projects were just making the portfolio materials. Out of those, it would have to be the box mask. In the box mask project, I learned a lot about Blueprint optimization and how to clean up my code to look a LOT more professional.
What do you do now?
As of right now, I do freelance work for companies and individuals. This comes not just in the form of modeling, 2D art, or making assets, but also in the basic pre-production planning/paperwork. Apparently, I have an eye for design & documentation, so I might as well use it. Outside of that, I work with K-12, teaching them the things I show in my portfolio. I teach them how to code, 3D model, and even some technical art. Though I have to be careful not to ramble on when I talk about technical art, I can get on long-winded rants.
Where do I see myself in the future?
Ideally, I hope to be working with a smaller studio. While I still specialize in technical art, I can dabble in pretty much any part of the game engine pipeline. If I can expand my knowledge in more areas, I can take that knowledge to make my specialized field even better than it already is. Though I realize things can change, I might not even be in the gaming industry in a couple of years, so who knows?
